bb, to provide a balanced view of PV systems, all discussions should include the true payback time, not in financial cost, but in terms of the energy input right from manufacturing to installation for the real benefits to be evaluated.
I assume this would be a big part of the information prospective purchasers would gather in making their decision whether to purchase or not, so perhaps each of those who have such units can let the rest of us know how each measures stacks up.
Perhaps instead of just be a big part of an evaluation, this should be the major consideration given the ultimate objective should be saving energy more so than money. Saving money should just be the carrot.
Saving money but at a cost of an overall increased energy footprint would be against the principles most buyers would be hoping to uphold I would imagine.
