I hardly think inane one liners constitute any form of racism whatsoever and should be accepted for what they are "attempted humour".
I'm ex U.K. and if I objected to every similar utterance I'd hardly have time to get on with life, so it's best to read/hear such "humour" and enjoy it or let it go by.
For those who are still upset I'd recommend getting out more often.
