The way I think about the article is that Klarna would not invest $160 million if they didn't believe in the success of Zip. Quadpay is gaining massive market share in the US. The article hints about a TO to consolidate the BNPL sector. Very strategic move by Klarna to invest in the fastest growing BNPL in the US. Klarna have been there, done that. They must like the Quadpay narrative developing in front of their eyes.
Additionally, it could be that Klarna see Quadpay as considerably undervalued.. and therefore makes sense as still within reach for a takeover. This is what PayPal, Citibank etc should have done. Look at all of these banks and financial institutions scrambling trying to create their own BNPL. Why not just invest in Zip???
Let's see how the market responds.
