I'm not really concerned about Klarna in Australia, although it's partnership with CBA is a thing of beauty. Anyone who has the CBA app (6 million daily visits) sees the Klarna promotion. I just thank my lucky starts Klarna did this in 2020 when Afterpay and Zip have already bolted and not in 2018 or earlier.
Klarna is a major threat in Europe where they are already established and they are also going after the same markets as Afterpay. Klarna in the US is like Z1P in Australia, far behind Afterpay but certainly growing at a decent pace. Europe is the opposite, Afterpay is playing catch up with Clearpay in the UK and who knows how things will play out in mainland Europe.
I'm not overly concerned as I strongly believe there is room for two big players in all of these markets. As long as we are one of the big dogs, I'm happy.
