kl's call... 'why is this so ?'...

I wanted to get a picture of what's happening from a mathematical perspective...
and I noted someone mentioned studying supply and demand.

so here is a little picture I came up with (I apologise if it's too rudimentary):

What we know (I've rounded the figures here - negligable for this excercise):

    shares on issue : 229m
    top 20 holding : 143m - 62%
    Market : 86m - 38%

we can say that any reduction in % in the top 20, effectively means a % increase in the Market (increase in supply), and conversely, any increase in % the top 20 is a decrease in % available in the market (decrease in supply).

So until we see a change in the top 20.. there are 86m shares actively traded on the market.

Further, there is a % of holdings in the market held long term which is not visible.
This represents a further reduction in liquid supply. And previously having being exposed to a finite demand, eventually established an equilibrium.

Now, this same limited liquid supply was recently exposed to a larger potential demand through the media coverage.

So this imo explains what we've seen in the last 2 days.

Now the interesting bit... through the increase in demand, there will be a new percentage of long termers, further reducing liquid supply.... and as awareness grows, demand increases again, putting a further strain on the diminishing liquid supply.. and we have a self perpetuating momentum until the next equilibrium is established... the exponential curve.

I wonder at what level we'll see the next equilibrium, given this is all happening with 86 million shares... where exposure, once confined to the investment community, is now released to the nation :)

Explains a little what KL's been saying all along ?... good call mate.

    cheers
    Arpeggio
