Kobe Tender

NLC are inviting tenders for "Consultancy Services for Preparation of Feasibility Report for Pilot scale integrated Power Plant utilizing Upgraded Brown Coal as fuel."

Coldry has passed pilot scale and we are preparing for a commercial demo plant.

The Coldry process uses waste heat from the power station for drying. Kobe's technology requires water supplied by NLC  ... "The required fuel will be supplied from the proposed UBC plant to be constructed adjacent to the power station. Water have (sic) to be drawn from available sources in Neyveli. " [1]

It appears Kobe's upgraded brown coal is reliant on their new boiler design, whereas Coldry pellets can be used in subcritical, supercritical and ultra supercritical black coal boilers and existing brown coal boilers  ... "The comparative study has to be made on the economics of upgraded fuel based power generation cost benefits with conventional boilers ... The boiler will be designed to generate the rated capacity with UBC as primary fuel ... Based on the UBC boiler design required modification in the existing boiler with available facilities also to be studied and to furnish the required modifications."

"Steam requirement for UBC plant also to be included " - Coldry produces this precious Indian commodity. It doesn't require vast amounts just to dry coal.

2 days ago: "India's coal power plants are shutting down because they don't have enough water." [2]

Nor do we have a "Nitrogen gas requirement for blanketing the UBC fuel"

It's also important to note that this tender is on behalf of NLC's inhouse Centre for Applied Research and Development (CARD) via an MOU, and financed by the Japanese government.

This tender is limited to 8 firms. One of which is our Matmor partner, M.N. Dastur.

In my opinion, our plans and techs are years ahead of Kobe.
