The case is being heard soon, and we might get a judgment in around six months, maybe late 2025 or early 2026. But even if AVZ wins, it’s far from over. The DRC can’t appeal in the normal sense, but they can apply to have the ruling annulled, and with Chinese backing, that’s probably what they’ll do.
If that happens, we’re looking at another 18–24 months of delays, plus massive legal costs. And it’s not just legal bills AVZ still has to cover running costs, staff, and everything else just to keep the lights on during all this. So it’s a long and expensive road ahead.
Who’s going to pay for all this?
let’s hope the Americans step up to the plate and offer a fair price, and this saga ends.
