Another would be that you can not go back in time and change the rules in arrears.
Do you really think that the US and President Trump would consider that operating in an ethical transparent fashion?
I don’t , and neither would the US, Saudi Arabia, Kobold, Rio, or any other legitimate party wanting to get involved , in the renovation of the Congo.

I think we get caught up too much in the financial aspects of AVZ, as we should.
But, we need to put ourselves in the position of the Congo leaders.
This is maybe a last chance to stay in power, and maintain their financially robust life style.
Otherwise, they are looking at the Rwanda backed rebels taking over the entire country by the end of the year, as the inept Congo army either surrenders, and join the insurgents, or runs away.
Sure, they have a lot of $ stashed away from their corrupt activities.
But, there is little doubt that the Congo government is guilty of war crimes.
A lot of war crimes.
And, once they are removed from power, the real truth about their attempted genocide will come out into the open.
And, The Hague does not care about how much $ you have, only about your past conduct.
