It's extraordinary that we, AVZ, have got this far considering, three weeks to go.....
#Détournement_RDCOpinion piece on corruption and embezzlement of public funds in the Democratic Republic of Congo.Corruption, poison of the Republic and theft of the national destiny. It is certain that if justice in the Democratic Republic of Congo were not "struck by infirmity (Sick Justice)", no authority, from the top to the bottom, would be spared from corruption and embezzlement of public funds. The Democratic Republic of Congo, a land and subsoil rich in natural resources and human potential, continues to live under the yoke of an unjustifiable scourge: corruption and embezzlement of public funds. In 2025, while the Congolese people legitimately aspire to dignity, development and social justice, it is revolting to note that the embezzlement of public funds by the authorities persists with complete impunity, as if predation had become the mode of governance. The Democratic Republic of Congo is a rich country with poor citizens. The Congolese paradox is well known: one of the richest countries in the world in strategic minerals, but where a majority of the population lives below the poverty line, worse than rats in the sewers.Roads are impassable, hospitals are in short supply, schools are falling apart, and clean water and electricity remain luxuries for a minority. These are not natural fatalities, but the direct consequences of a system where public funds are regularly diverted for the benefit of a few. From a group that confuses the country with their heritage, public funds with their wallet.Overcharging, opaque public contracts (over the counter), public accounts siphoned off, political and administrative elites merged into a pact for personal enrichment; Congolese millionaires are being created through embezzlement of public funds.Corruption and embezzlement of public funds kills and destroys more than war.Corruption is not just a moral failing, it kills, it kills, it destroys the social and economic fabric, in hospitals where medicines are lacking; It kills on unmaintained roads; It kills in the widespread insecurity that the poorly equipped and poorly paid security forces cannot contain; It kills hope, it kills democracy, it kills the future of our youth who lack education.Impunity as fuel for the system. In the DRC, we are in the only country where the President of the Republic has declared that kickbacks (clandestine and illicit payments of commissions) on public funds pocketed by individuals "were considered legal in the Congo."Too often, financial scandals come to light, but do not lead to any real sanctions, but rather to the appointment of embezzlers to management positions; they are nothing more than petty chicken thieves filling the country's prisons.Investigations are buried or politicized, trials drag on, and convictions are rare, if not nonexistent. This lack of justice fuels the feeling that stealing from the state is risk-free, and worse, that it is rewarded with promotions and political alliances. It is time to break this cycle. It is time to establish a true culture of accountability; it is time to deliver social justice to the Congolese people.A national surge to save the DRC.It is necessary to raise public awareness in this existential battle in the DRC.We, Congolese citizens, must demand and impose strong and independent institutions through struggle. We must strengthen oversight powers, guarantee the independence of the judiciary, protect whistleblowers and encourage investigative journalism.Parliament must also play its role of controlling the executive power and executing the will of those in power, and political parties must stop protecting the corrupt in the name of their electoral interests. But beyond the institutions, a moral and civic awakening is needed; we must know that corruption is not inevitable, it is a choice. The choice of a group of individuals in power against the general interest, it is now up to each of us, citizens, elected officials, civil servants, magistrates, military personnel, entrepreneurs, students to become aware of and reject this system of widespread corruption, to denounce it, to fight it; "let everyone do their part."The time for reckoning has come. The Congolese people have the right to truth, justice and a future. We can no longer accept that the DRC is governed by organized theft.Every embezzled franc is a school that is not built, a hospital that remains empty, a road that collapses.Corruption is the greatest obstacle to our nation's development; fighting it is not an option: it is a patriotic imperative for the existence of Lumumba's Congo.Kiki #Kienge
