TICKY FULLERTON, PRESENTER: The extraction of natural gas from shale may soon be happening in Queensland.
Executives from the United States and Australia say they're looking at developing shale gas and coal seam gas drills in several basins across Queensland.
MARK MCARDLE, MINISTER FOR ENERGY & WATER: Shale gas has transformed the US. There's no doubt about that. And we want to learn from the US and bring that technology and expertise into this state so that we can also develop a very exciting future.
TICKY FULLERTON: The State Government says it wants more developments in the Maryborough, Cooper and Georgina basins. But it's yet to extend the funding of exploration grants for mining companies beyond next year.
