@Surandy70At first glance, you might wonder if we are losing our edge as a first mover. But it's not the case.
Kineticor are bringing forward this data centre development to Council, but rather than a co-siting model like we have proposed with a net-zero energy footprint on the electricity generated, the 900MW plant referred to in the article is the Cascade 900MW power plant that Kineticor own closer to Edmonton. It is an existing Combined cycle plant so will not be net zero. But it is presumably grandfathered under the CER so can continue to operate despite its significant carbon emissions. I presume the data centre will purchase this power via a PPA.
What Kalina hopefully can take into final development soon is entirely different. A co-sited power and data centre model. The power built from new and net zero. Totally different beast from a marketability point of view.
Crusoe have made their point of difference in the data centre market that they are green and wont be contributing further carbon emissions. Only Kalina can support that model
