My view is this really pushes Crusoe to move quickly if they are serious about their Alberta plans. I see Lone Pine as the best placed site moving forward given the plans and space for co-location.

In terms of site sales this should place Saddle Hills are more valuable due to it being shovel ready, although it would need a couple of amendments to its AESO approvals, especially if wanting to add co-location to the mix.

I see a big scramble coming from project developers in the next few weeks as quite a few plans show data centres coming online a year or more before their power source is planned for completion. This impacts Crusoe, but also plenty of others, eg Kineticor in Rocky View County.

Co-location appears a lot more valuable as emphasised by this AESO webinar, behind the fence connections have a lot less impact on the grid once power supply is on stream. Sourcing power offsite is a lot more problematic as it can cause grid instability depending on power demands/supplies at the various locations. I presume that KDP’s sites all being near large transmission lines would be beneficial for us provided there is sufficient capacity for our power entering those lines.
