What you said is exactly right.

It does, however, stop the day traders with a sp of much greater size. They can't get the numbers of shares necessary for a small movement in the sp to give them big dollars.
I believe that a consolidation would stabilise the sp a bit more. It will still move, as does FMG or RIO or BHP, but the traders moving in and out with a million shares will not realise big gains if the sp moves from 3.70 to 3.80, as they will not have the leverage. Just my opinion. but it's GJ's thinking as well...
