and there is the rub. If we maintain increases in the job seekers benefits which many are calling for then will closer to 10% unemployment become the acceptable 'norm' because many will be happy with the amount they get for doing nothing.I often have wondered whether in fact this isn't a bad thing. Jobs for those that want to work and improve their lot in life and a liveable amount of income for those that have no get up and go. Of course I would want those that simply can't because of disabilities etc to be better looked after than those that simply choose not to work.
Increase GST to 11% across everything and we would have truckloads of cash. The lower socio economic people always spend so it becomes self fulfilling.
