Critical raw materials are needed for the digital and green transitions. The global demand for these minerals is expected to multiply, as we move from a fossil to a clean energy system, says Counsellor Suvi Järvelä-Hagström.. It is important to ensure a sustainable minerals value chain, improve the circular use of critical minerals and enhance international cooperation. Finland has know-how and solutions to offer in the whole minerals value chain, including in sustainable and safe mining, circularity, research and development as well as technological and connectivity solutions related to mining. Finland is keen to collaborate with partner countries in the areas of green and digital transition. A new national mineral strategy is currently being prepared in Finland. It will be will be ready by the end of 2024.
