I'm not sure where you got the idea what charts are accurate at predicting future price movements. That's actually the one thing charts can't do, yet it is the one thing underpinning your lack of confidence in them.
What charts do provide is information about important levels relating to future price movements. For example, identifying levels of support/resistance that price may encounter when reaching certain price points. This allows you to time your entries/exits with less risk/more reward.
Moving averages, MACD, RSI, volume etc are all kinds of indicators (admittedly most lagging) that can help punters make a more informed investment decision in the future.
