Melaka is definitely worth going to, awesome food, the old colonial fortifications are very interesting too, (if you are into that sort of thing). Batu caves... good choice. Make sure you get yourself a blessing from one of the dudes at the top of the stairs! small donation gets you a blessing and a smudge of ash on your forehead!
Jalan Alor (I think been offically renamed as something else, but everyone still calls it Jalan Alor) well known for fantastic food, well worth checking out. (Jalan means street/road)
