KUTh turns up heat on Tasmanian acreage

    Thursday, 5 March 2009

KUTH Energy says results from a recent Magneto-Telluric (MT) survey over its Tasmanian geothermal permit SEL26/2005 have confirmed the southern extension of the Tamar Conductivity Zone (TCZ).

The company said the extension of the zone towards central Tasmania creates potential for an intersection of two significant geothermal targets.

“Extension of the TCZ into this area may apply the existence of fracture permeability and naturally occurring fluids at depth, and hence would represent a significant target for future geothermal development,” the company said.

However, the company also said it remains “cautiously optimistic” about the findings.

KUTh added it would continue with its program to acquire targeted geophysical data to better define the location and extent of the TCZ before carrying out a drilling program in the second half of 2009.

The MT survey was carried out across SEL26/2005 late last year and was co-funded by a REDI (federal government Renewable Energy Development Initiative) grant.
