Whilst we await news I thought I would create a new thread re the Kwinana development schedule. I've had a bit of time to go through past announcements to try plot out delivery timelines for various elements of our pre-development activities.
Bear with the poor structure of my post, it's a combination of information shared in a private shareholder group as well as my own mental ramblings. Here goes... (note: all of the below excerpts are from the development report announcement dated 5 November 2020. The drawings are my own)
Historically our Gantt charts haven't been particularly reliable, but if we use the chart from the development report announcement (dated 5th November), should we expect the detailed engineering design and drafting to be completed by early August? On the 8th February is was announced that we had authorised GR to commence this work.
If the detailed engineering design is delivered on-time (per the above Gantt chart) we should hopefully be able to move quickly with procurement and construction.
A fellow shareholder pointed out that we don't yet have the necessary regulatory approvals. They make a valid point. I went back to the Development Report...
SMPEI construction isn't scheduled to commence until October (according to the Gantt chart). These timeframes seem quite tight if procurement isn't already underway, and of course nothing can happen on site until we have the necessary approvals. If the development report announcement is to be believed, "none of these regulatory approvals are anticipated to impact the construction schedule".
The timelines seem ambitious given that approvals do not appear to have been lodged and we are not aware that procurement has commenced, however perhaps we're not as far behind schedule as I have recently thought that we might be.
Phase 1 Kwinana is fully-funded and AS is on the record saying to numerous shareholders that EFA funding approval is matter of when, not if. AS has also reportedly told numerous shareholders that EFA has all of the reports, studies and supporting documentation that they require to process our funding application. Through my sources, and Company announcements, it has never been stated that EFA required the detailed engineering design to process our application. The issues of waste-water products, dust and gaseous emissions, reagent storage and water treatment is adequately covered in the Development Report, therefore it is my view that the detailed engineering design is not required for this purpose.
I would be interested to hear other shareholders' thoughts.
