By no means should TA (Technical Analysts) be considered as the sole indicator of the price movement but instead, in conjunction with fundamentals on all / multiple levels that influences the stock price of early-stage biotechs or any (or many) other sectors (considering the stock's liquidity (case by case)).

From my experience, TA's utility and limitations is not absolute across all sectors and stocks as some are more ideal for TA.

Did that red engulfing candle say anything about fundamentals:
That red engulfing candle may say more about technicals than fundamentals or vice versa (depending on your perspective). It reflects market psychology of what the stock is valued at by the market at the given time. That candle reflects the sentiment of the market for what KZA should be worth based on its fundamentals at that given time. It also reflects the utility in TA as price action can be analysed with an "educated guess" for what is more likely to come in conjunction with Fundamentals.

Do charts tell when things will happen:
TA doesnt tell when things WILL happen but instead, is something to consider to weigh in on the odds of the "when and where areas" of price movement while considering fundamentals / catalysts.

Do charts tell when things have happened:
Definitely charts tell when things have happened and its with this historical data, it allows us to consider AREAS of reference for roughly when / where price is more likely to move (Ofc considering fundamentals too) BASED on this very historic data that reflects the market psychology at that time and now (with everything considered). The past, present and future works hand in hand in TA.

-TA is not useless (Not saying this is your sentiment however i see many argue that it is so this post is more for everyone who think alike) because it is widely used and respected by not just Technical Analysts but also other types of investors/traders (who dont even analyse charts) too to some degree eg: buy low sell high. even in early biotech companies (case by case).
-It works because a lot of people (who are part of the market ecosystem along with fundamentalists) use it and respects some of the fundamental rules of TA (which is why you can see price action at specific areas of support/resistance)
-TA's fuel is the herd mentality that outweighs its opposing trend which is reflective of fluctuations you see in the charts.
-This is why even without announcements price tends to move in a certain trend thats within a trend thats within a trend and so on rather than staying still until next announcement.
-It is a money making strategy just like fundamental analysis to maximize profits and limit losses based on the odds for what had happened, is happening and SHOULD happen.
-Sometimes fundamentals dominates price action, sometimes technicals dominates price action and sometimes its a balance.

At the end of the day, no investing/trading strategy is absolute but just a means to more accurately turn a profit with acceptable risks thats suited for the individual. Including/Only using TA is just a way to make an informed decision for investing/trading
