Mining Weekly 21 August stated L&M will oppose any appeal, instead inviting Bathurst to "focus constructively on taking steps to commence exploiting the valuable coal resources on the Denniston Plateau from which L&M is entitled to be paid royalties". It doesn't seem to rule out a negotiated settlement which does imply that Bathurst's situation is not as weak as some people think. Any thoughts on this?
L&M will oppose appeal.
