Gillard dosn't want the Malaysian solution and she cant afford to seriously entertain any part of the oppositions alternative policy.
She is pretending to be interested in a solution but knows genuinely acting upon one would risk her leadership ...
As one Labor MP was quoted as saying "she got what she wanted".
Labor like to look busy on this issue for political purposes ... and that's about all there is to it.
