I think that was their angle they were working towards. broadening GST as well as raising the rate. I've no doubt it would have been a mess as it was their pattern to mess up even the most simple things. but they'd already started the conversation with the states all starting to talk about it, particularly Lib run NSW.

would it have exploded in their faces? they'll have to make it a popular change if they want to do it, or risk losing again.

would Dud have the courage to take GST changes to the electorate? he might keep his own seat but I dare hazard the Libs would lose Qld from such a promise.
