While the rise of CO2 emissions in emerging economies is a concern, you seem to be ignoring that these countries are still trying to limit emissions. They are investing plenty in renewables.
If renewables were more advanced, they would be rolling out more of them now. Thus demonstrating how important it is to develop the technology sooner rather than later. That's where we come in.
When renewables can truly replace baseload with industrial sized storage, these countries won't be interested in fossil fuel any more. The sooner we can make that happen, the better.
In the meantime, the countries like us that have established electricity systems that aren't rapidly expanding can transition to renewables thus offsetting the increases elsewhere.
