Dave, you state that the coalition got us into this economic mess. Please state your reasons for thinking this. Every other person in australia I would think would say that it all started with the greed coming out of the USA firstly with the sub prime fiasco. To blame the liberal party for the current mess would have to be the most ignorant statement I have ever seen on this forum. You really have to get over the hate you obviously have for the previous coalition govt. Facts are that if it wasn't for the previous govt's massive surplus,Rudd would not have been able to implement the economic stimulus package and more. And yes,I am aware that we have had a commodity boom that generated good revenue and that perhaps more could have been spent on infrastructure,but instead the howard govt gave good tax cuts for a few years and put the rest away for a rainy day, Well in case you havent noticed, its pouring now and that surplus has come in very useful. Can you imagine the deficit Rudd would have worked up if it wasnt for that surplus. But Rudd will do well as the labour govt's are specialists at running defecits. So Dave,have a good long think about things before you make comments like blaming the former govt for todays economic problems.
