    Mookie,
But what did the Howard Government actually do? I can think of two, sorry 4 things.
    1. Introduced a new tax GST
    2. Introduced work choices(meaning no choice for workers)
    3. IRAQ war
    4. Sold controlling interest in Telstra(The infrastructure built over generations now in the hands of the 3 amigos)

Were it not for China and India OZ would have been in strife over this period. Our minerals and agricultural products are much wanted as they develop at a rapid rate. Really Howard and Costello could have done much more. Our infrastructure needs wre run into the ground, skills training a debacle and technology needs such as high speed broadband ignored. A future fund was set up but only to invest money to pay for public service and Parliamentarian super benefits. This is funded by the sale of Telstra not by any good economic management. If they had done a good job they would not be the decimated opposition that exists at the moment.

The Opposition needs to stop listening to the born to rule types that are part of the coalition establishment, Liberals in particular, and start representing all Australians if they are to be trusted to govern. Most of these born to rule types are not necessarily the very wealthy but rather wannabes who who delude themselves that only they deserve what they have and feel deprived when decisions are made to assist other worthy recipients such as pensioners, carers and ordinary families.

The wannabes are entitled to their opinions but if the coalition pays heed only to them they will continue to wander aimlessly until they see the light. May the light shine on them this Festive season and may their policies be developed for the common good not just the few.
