The franking credits is a tax refund of tax paid which shouldn't have been paid in the first place, it is not a handout......
Maybe a better way to address this issue is that company profits returned back to their shareholders, as a profit on their investment in the company, are not taxed at the company level but by the individuals at their marginal rate.
It is really the same thing, but certain people can't get their head around the franking credit issue.
