    Apart from the obvious environmental benefits, unlike Nuclear
    which requires massive capital investment and will invariable
    be foreign owned, solar & wind because of its modular form
    at least has the potential to be Aussie owned & the Vic Government
    has made moves to ensure that.

    Privatisation of our electricity (like that of social housing) has been
    an abject failure in that the private owners are simply running the
    current generating plants into the ground (make as much money as you can
    while creating a shortage of supply thereby driving up the price)

    IMO unless State overnments tke back ownership of electricity generation
    & preferably by building more solar & wind, then we'll likely have a Calefornian
    "Enron Moment" whwn the grid will crash.

    PS: We didn't have a power supply'pricing crisis when the generators were State Owned
    just as we didn't have a housing affordability crisis when social housing was publicly
    owned ..eg: 1950s when we had massive immigration & high demand from returned soildiers from
    WW2.
