The Income Tax(+ Medicare) on her current $495k pa is approximately $200k leaving her with$295k pa "cash in hand".
The GG's salary is exempt from Income Tax (notsure about Medicare Levy) meaning her $709k salary as from Monday will mostlikely be $709k cash-in hand. Plus a fully maintained and serviced house(I doubt she'd be paying Board).
$709k - $295k = $414k pa increase in disposable income.
The Treasury and the Finance Minister really puttheir minds to this problem, didn't they.
(Yes, yes, I know, the GG's salary has to behigher than that of the Chief Justice. But why does it?)
