    Andrew Penn was not a female although it did appear he could only appoint females buyt that was mainly Catherine Livingstone as chair as well.

    I reckon people should be selected in merit and not based on their gender, DEI, sexual preference, race or ethnicity but that sadly does not appear to be the case in Australia or with Telstra.

    I find it difficult to believe that Vicki Brady would have been selected on merit for either the CFO or CEO position but same applies to Lyndall Stoyles, Shalin Sehgal, Maxine Brenner, Ming Long, Elana Rubin and Kathryn van der Merwe.

    Some of the names above include males.

    DEI versus merit is not solely about gender but a number of DEI factors.

    That is why merit should win and explains why Telstra continues to underperform.
