Its a good thing that you clearly state that your post is your own opinion - because that is just what it is. You first make the assumption that the Liberal Party will always be good for Telstra as they encourage private investment. If that were so, where was this indicated in their non-existent broadband plan? Would they open up the tender process again - a process that has already taken an excruciatingly long 3 years with the current plan in place? Would Telstra holders have to wait and see for another 3 years to see if it secured a contract for a value much less on offer now?
The NBN will be privatised after it is completed - are you using Joe Hockey's calculator or are you not counting the Liberal numbers in this equation. Last I counted, if you add the Liberals to the Labor party numbers in the Senate you get a huge majority, or do the Liberals not believe in privatisation anymore? Oh yeah, that's right, they might play politics like in the state level and side with the Greens on blocking the sale of state assets.
So the Liberals 'NEVER' rack up state debt? Right... You seem to forget the damage the Fraser/Howard years did to Australia's economy - double digit inflation, double digit interest rates, double digit unemployment, Australian bonds almost relegated junk status.
And the Labor Party as you assume, is dead set against private investment? The party that mandated superannuation, floated the dollar, reduced tarrifs, opened up Australia to foreign banks and successfully privatised CBA and QAN. I don't think you will hear this much ridiculous bile coming from the CBA and QAN shareholders, yet they are just as much regulated as TLS by the ACCC and within a highly competitive field.
If you want to be constructive in improving the value of Telstra, lobby your Coalition Senators and MPs to back the separation legislation with the price tag on offer. With Telstra rid of the landlines, they will be finally free from political interference with money in the bank.
