Did the gov see this as not relevant or don't like their dirty laundry aired in public?

THE Federal Government has thwarted an Opposition bid to have Labor MP Belinda Neal explain to Parliament her part in the so-called Iguanagate affair.

The Opposition moved a motion in Parliament today in an attempt to force Ms Neal, the member for Robertson, to explain her actions at the Iguanas Waterfront restaurant and club at Gosford on the New South Wales Central Coast.

Ms Neal and her husband, NSW Government minister John Della Bosca, have been accused of abusing and threatening staff at the club.

The Government used its numbers in the lower house to gag the motion.
