labor gets 50.6% of vote but may still fail

    The conservatives think that less than a majority of the 2pp vote somehow makes them entitled to form a minority government. The reality is the independents will decide who they align with and whoever then achieves a majority with their votes will Govern. It could be Labor or Coalition and we will have to live with that.

    Our system of democracy is about a majority of seats accross the whole parliament to attain the government benches.

    From the coalition perspective its just as well that is the case otherwise it would have to be a certain win for Labor with its 50.60 majority share of the 2pp vote.
