I don't think anyone who's never been there understands what it's like to live in poverty and have no way out.

As far as I can see we in the western world live in excess ,with those who think they've earnt it ,or deserve it ,trying to protect what they have .

The aim of all wealth distribution schemes should be to ensure that those who are born into the poverty cycle have some chance of clawing their way out of it.

It's not the fault of the dependents that those who have brought them into the world have made bad choices or whatever.

I'm a rusted on right winger as everybody knows but I think as a society we have a duty of care to those who didn't make the choice or have any chance.

Similarly some people just don't have the mental capacity or ambition to live as we all would hope .

Unless one wants to create a total underclass which has detrimental repurcussions for the country over time ,you need to look after them to some degree.

It's all very well to be smug because you have a good life yourself but a lot of it has to do with circumstance and luck doesn't it
