Labor and the greens are a team.
The Victorian Greens will make the phased out closure of the state's coal-fired Hazelwood and Anglesea power plants a condition of any moves to pass supply bills through either the lower or upper house, should the party be given a minority government stake or the upper house balance of power after the November 29 election.
The Greens said they would "require amendments to the Electricity Industry Act 2000 (VIC) and to force the Minister to withdraw their [Anglesea and Hazelwood] generation licences."
“Billions of dollars in investment and thousands of jobs are at risk if Victoria remains tied up in old, dirty technology," Victorian Greens Leader Greg Barber said.
“The Greens plan will help Victoria smoothly transition away from coal fired power without causing job losses, while setting up communities for the industries of the future.
“The plan should be a priority for Victoria and the Greens will be using our position in the new parliament to push for it.”
