In some ways this is a good result for democracy yorick - it shows poor government gets severely punished. I hope the Independents hold whoever forms government accountable. Unfortunately on the downside the fringe extreme left wing Greens hold the balance of power in the Senate so whether Abbott or Gillard is PM, don't expect to get much (sensible policy) done.
