labor held electorates needed most stimulus

It is now apparent that Labor held electorates were the most run down and were deserving of the greatest percentage of the borrowed money, referred to as "the stimulus".

    From "the Brisbane Times" today.

"LABOR electorates have received the lion's share of funding for community jobs-boosting projects from the Rudd Government's ''jobs fund'', an analysis has found.

Of $132 million in one-off grants so far, $109 million can be traced to specific locations. Of this, $77 million, or 71 per cent, has gone to projects in Labor-held electorates. Liberal seats received $18 million, or 17 per cent, despite Liberal MPs holding 36 per cent of seats in Parliament.

Money for the jobs fund was carved out of the Government's $42 billion stimulus package in February amid concerns about soaring unemployment and to secure support for the bill from the Greens in the Senate.

While job fears have subsided somewhat, money from the fund has been peppered around 172 community organisations, including charities, local councils and church groups.

Successful projects include renovations to surf life saving clubs and other sports facilities, charity programs, Aboriginal programs, market gardens and waterfront boardwalks.

Of the 10 electorates that received the most funding, eight are Labor, one is independent and the other the most marginal Liberal electorate." (END)

Isn't it unusual that Labor electorates got nearly three quarters of the funding? Gee, those electorates must have been very deserving to get that amount, because everything was done fair and square, according to the P.M. in waiting, Julia Gillard.

And we believe her, don't we? Is that nose getting bigger, or is it just my imagination?

    cheers
