Pity the silly sausage didnt keep his word to Costello (I await his book) and retire gracefully before suffering the indignity of being only the second Prime Minister ever to lose his parliamentary seat. Even to his own party he will not be that iconic. His own Cabinet tried to convince him to retire but he refused. Thought of himself first, party second. How he cames out in Costellos book will probably determine how much party respect he will ultimately receive. All in all as Costello discovered a pretty slippery fella.
