Iceman, both side are guilty of playing dirty politics but some how labor have been able to push through record amounts of legislation, good bad or other wise.

Come an election, both will have to put foward policies, visions & details of how that will be achieved. They will also be judged on that they have done in this current term.

What has Abbott got? IMO not much, the boat people issue alone is not enough to win him the election & the CT & MRRT has become a non issue.

In a recent report the Productivity Commission targets the Federal Opposition's direct action policy, saying all subsidies for rooftop solar power systems should be abolished.

The Opposition plans to offer $1000 subsidies to install a million solar systems on roofs by 2020.

State-based feed-in tariffs for solar power systems should also be axed. WA ended its feed-in tariff last year after the scheme's cost was discovered to have blown out by hundreds of millions of dollars.

The commission found the Federal Government's carbon tax "obviated" the need for such schemes, arguing it was a cheaper way to cut greenhouse emissions.

It would seem Abbott has dug a pretty big hole for him self & for the libs to win the next election they will have to fill the hole back in.
