    Maybe it pays to ponder the following also.
    We have low unemployment and in fact have to import Labour to meet needs.
    We need to collectively contribute to meet the infrastructure and security needs of this country. Even BHP needed government(taxpayer ) help in Western Australia to get projects moving.

    A civilised society needs safety nets for times when some people fall on misfortune(death or disability of a breadwinner or temporary unemployment) or due to age constraints. Every worker contributes taxes and pays for these based on equity principles set by the elected government of the day.

    Australia has done these things under both the major political persuasions and as Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has just told an international audience we are in an enviable position compared to most. So all this ideological rhetoric on this forum that cries doom and gloom and trying to blame our political system is just the usual chat site party partisan hot air.
