Lol, if only it were true. It is a bit inconsistent with Howard's govt though. He banned firearms. He was also big on welfare too. But nice story detached from reality.
Here's my take on differences between Labor & Liberal. As a young person, we are idealistic happy little butterflies sharing toys with gay abandon. So we tend to gravitate to the ALP & the greens. However, the older, grumpier, sooky & selfish we become, we gravitate towards the Liberals.
This process also has a physiological aspect to it, particularly on the ability to smile. Case in point, Alan Jones/Piers Akerman, et al... it becomes painful for them to smile and find grimacing natural & comfortable. They are uncomfortable with happiness and find comfort in vitriolic unpleasantness.
