"Barely enough to live on."
I've heard that from those on high wages just as much as from those on a low wage. It's not what you earn but what you spend it on that makes the difference. It starts when teenagers want the latest "wheels" then graduate to Bali holidays then immediately want a house bigger and better than their parents but not accepting that the parents worked hard for a long time to get one. I have a nearby couple with a teenage child renting a home while having 2 cars, one less than 2 years old the other less than 1 year, and a trailer boat. They pay a high rent to live on the waterfront. They also talk about how hard it is to save for a deposit on a home.
