Maybe bailing the "too big to fail" banks staved off disaster, at least for the moment. But I don't understand why there seemed to be no strings attached. Do the public end up holding shares? Or some kind of IOU? Or some kind of commitment to lend freely? Or an interest rate cap on loans?
Or....nothing?
