The Coalition Government released a fact sheet a couple of weeks ago that estimates the savings for households of removing the Carbon Tax. The savings will be dwarfed by cost increases once the Aussie dollar falls and petrol prices break $2.00 dollars a litre.
My household insurance bills have gone up more than that to cover the recent natural disasters in Australia. So I don't think cutting the CT is going to take the pressure off household bills as much as the coalition make out in their arguments.
Falling Aussie dollar means the cost of imports will rise.

The fact sheet estimates electricity bills we be lower by around $200 a year and $70 a year for gas, come 2014-15.
