Its a little more comllicated than that, Dave. You see there is this thing called inflation and bracket creep, so in fact every year income taxes go up. Then a Gov comes a long after a few years and increases the brackets and calls it a tax cut. Even the supposedly equality wrecking move to increase the top bracket from 180 to 200, is in effect handing back bracket creep (comes in 5 yrs time and hasnt changed for yrs). So what the ALP and LNP are battling over is whether to bring taxes back to the same REAL level, or leave them much, much higher than they were a few yrs ago due to brackets barely changing.
