Labor should make a habit of going against their traditional economic ideology, it's obviously better for the economy!!!
Wouldn't hurt the tories to take a broader view either.
I've always leant to the left but think the Hawke/Keating years the best government we've had. Aussies are conservative and will always vote Tory while we are coasting. We only vote in a Lab gov when things have got so bad that Bobby Six Pack can see that things are broken.
It's easy to dump on Whitlam but what he took over made the "black hole" Howard 'n Costello bleat about, pale into insignificance. True, he over-compensated but I am yet to be convinced he was wrong.
And if you want to disengage a war, there is only one option.
