I think the people were misled, not misinformed.
Days before the last election Gillard make sure she was on every channel droning our her "no carbon tax" message. Then on the eve of the election, she admitted to a reporter that she still intended to price carbon anyway.
If that isn't deliberate misleading, I don't know what else you would call it!
