Rudd was never going to be the saviour of the labor Party. A media driven campaign fanned by the powers that be to destabililize the ALP. If Rudd had won the media would have then gone to work on his reputation with gusto driving his public approval down to the teens.
Sticking with Gillard will be shown to be the correct strategy. The Labor brand will benefit from the stability. It never failed to stun me that every election when Howard's approval ratings were dire and people really were sick of him, that the Australian voting public hates to change horses. Don't underestimate incumbency. Look at the record
1975 to 1983 Liberal Govt
1983 to 1996 Labor Govt
1996 to 2007 Liberal Govt
2007 to ? Labor Govt
3 changes of Government in 37 years. The trend is your friend.
