Thanks for the info. It has always been a source of pain to the family knowing that a brave and courageous man survived great deprivation and was murdered after the war ended to silence any witnesses to the atrocities that occurred.The fact that the rescue was aborted because of these actions makes it even more painful.
We have sourced a copy of the book online and will be reading the full account ourselves. There is an interview with Hal on Youtube as well. Comes across as a very calm methodical man not prone to lying and grandstanding. Took 10 years to get the book published.
I wonder how many of these parasites would have lived had they tried the same thing on in Russia. They would have shot them on the spot.
