First degree cost me $7500, second $27500 both on HECS. They are paid off now but under the proposed interest system I would still be in debt. Degrees costing $16k a year is a pretty substantial increase on current fees, coupled with the new interest arrangement . . .
It is interesting the number of Boomer types on hotcopper who like to bang on about 'free rides', something that generation had the best of but now is considered the worst scourge on our society. In general Australians have the most inflated sense of entitlement of any country going around.
